Marine EGGnigma riddle rally, a tale, and chocolate at the Aquarium

From April 18 to 21, 2025, we’re celebrating Easter at the Aquarium! Solve the marine EGGnigmas while hunting for wooden eggs, eat chocolate after answering the quiz on the awakening of animals in spring, listen to the story of the sea cucumber, and proudly wear sea animal face paint in the colours of Easter.

Spring quiz

Young and old alike will have fun answering our quiz about the spring activities of our animals, whether moulting, migration, courtship, or reproduction.

Note: All participants will receive a chocolate treat.

Marine animal face painting (activity with a fee)

Seahorses, fish, seals, and polar bears – our face painting artist will put her magical Easter touch on little countenances.

Note: A $5 fee will be charged for the face paint.

Marine EGGnigmas

Come and take part in our marine EGGnigma riddle rally, featuring new questions about our animals. You’ll find the right answers thanks to the wooden eggs hidden on our site.

Note: The rally will be held at Nordet in case of bad weather.

Aquarium Storytime

Storytellers Félicité la Fée and Mme Prune tell the story of Conrad the sea cucumber.

Polar bears

Our polar bears, Kinuk and Shouka, have a new roommate: Humphrey! He was born on November 9, 2013 at the Toronto Zoo, to his mother, Aurora, and father, Inukshuk. While he weighed just 700 grams at birth, today he weighs 1,200 pounds! He's known for his curious, playful nature. In fact, he loves to roll around in the dirt. His adaptation is going wonderfully well in his new habitat at the Aquarium, with his furry companions.

Arctic foxes

Three magnificent Arctic foxes recently arrived at the Aquarium from the Zoo sauvage de Saint-Félicien. Joséphine, Léonie, and René are nearly five years old. We can't get enough of watching these clever and mischievous creatures as they play!

Seals

Our four harbour seals and three harp seals are fast, agile swimmers. Excellent divers, they love fish and invertebrates. These seals are used to the polar cold, so for them basking in the sun is a real treat.

New activities with our fish

Clownfish, garden eels, stingrays, North Atlantic fish (pollock, halibut, spotted wolffish), and the fish that inhabit our Awesome Ocean Basin are fascinating in so many ways. Our animal guides have lots to tell you about these species. Don't miss our new activities with these creatures of the deep.

The Deep Sea Pavilion is aptly named. As soon as you arrive, you’ll be immersed in the dark, to better admire the captivating beauty of the jellyfish. Then, the seahorses and sea dragons will charm you. A large pool, populated by Atlantic stingrays, closes the visit of this pavilion. And as a delightful touch, you’ll be able to stroke the soft skin of these beautiful ladies of the sea.

The Deep Sea Pavilion is not accessible with a stroller, but an outdoor parking is provided at this location.

• Indoor activity

Upon entering the Freshwater and Saltwater Pavilion, you’ll discover a multitude of fish from here and elsewhere. You’ll also enjoy amazing encounters with leopard sharks, scorpion fish, our octopus, and our blue lobster. In the coastal zone, you can touch the sea urchins and starfish in the company of our animal guide. And you can top off the visit by diving into our immersive adventure projection entitled ImMERsion.

• Indoor activity

As impressive as ever, with its 350,000 liters of water, the Awesome  Ocean is getting a makeover - or rather, new fins! Our fish collection has been almost entirely renewed. In a process as fascinating as it is rare, our team of divers has introduced a number of new semi-tropical species: rock crappie, green calicagere, señorita, blacksmith damsel, black surf perch and many other specimens with equally exotic names. These newcomers will stand alongside the tank's star species: leopard sharks.

The sublime photos of Antarctica by photographer Michel Groleau show a darker reality, that of the impact of climate change on this region of the globe.

In summer, the zone covered by sea ice is 40% less extensive than in 1980. Antarctica is the place in the world where the temperature is rising the fastest. The spectacular glaciers that have been there since time immemorial are in danger of disappearing forever. Our daily actions have an influence on the fate of Antarctica.

The exhibition Plongez dans l’univers du lac Saint-Charles/Dive into the world of Lac Saint-Charles is a window onto the treasures hidden beneath the surface of the largest drinking water reservoir in Québec City! The underwater explorer Manuel Ano, who took these shots, is one of the few sub-ice cameramen in the world. Manuel collaborated with the environmental organization Agiro to carry out dives in Lac Saint-Charles. It is both a scientific and cultural project. Sunfish, crayfish, yellow perch, black millers, yellow water lilies – the flora and fauna in this stretch of water are of unexpected beauty.

Discover the beauty of the Arctic through our immersive Artika projection. Young and old alike can admire polar bears, narwhals, walruses, belugas, Arctic foxes, and many other species that live in this corner of the globe. Images captured in the wild and projected onto three-metre-high walls clearly illustrate the richness and fragility of the Arctic.

Warming up in the polar relaxation zone

Come and unwind in our relaxation area transformed into a base camp. Kids can stretch out and play in our little igloos, while grown-ups lounge in front of the campfire. A little reminder... don't forget to snap a selfie in our polar photobooth!

Special presentation: En Arctique

The polar bear is the emblematic animal of the Arctic. Caribou, seals, whales, narwhals, and foxes are also part of this ecosystem. The biodiversity in this part of the world is unique, with species adapted to extreme conditions. Our animal guide will tell you all about the realities of the Arctic and the challenges posed by climate change. You can even handle artifacts such as a narwhal horn, walrus tusk, bear claw, and whale baleen.

Hundreds of animated animals will parade before your eyes in our immersive projection room. Eels, polar bears, walruses, Greenland sharks, sperm whales, and giant squid await you. Watch out for the whale that swallows you! Dive into the adventure with us!

With EAU'DORAT: Water Sniffing for Beginners, enjoy an olfactory and sensory experience linked to the marine world. Smell the St. Lawrence, marshes, and fish products, and discover the odour of a shark or polar bear. Each scent is associated with a touchable texture representing an animal or a place in this captivating ecosystem. Come and discover our olfactory and sensory interpretation panel.

This spring, be jolly with the jellies!

Feeding, biology, reproduction, and cloning are among the topics covered in our Jellyfish Quiz. Visitors will be invited to solve the riddles to successfully open our treasure chest. They will also be able to observe the different stages of life of these strange creatures in small aquariums and check out plankton, their favourite food, using microscopes.

A pathway to adventure for young adventurers! There are nets, catwalks, gangplanks, vines, and so on. A way to develop balance and self-reliance while burning up energy!

• Outdoor activity
